Neighbourhood guide

Queen East has the daily rhythm: cafés, schools, dogs, and a front step that becomes part of your week.

The Beaches trades a little commute for lake air, long walks, and quieter mornings.

By the Bluffs, the light changes. It is worth seeing the street at dusk before you decide.

Leslieville to the Bluffs, and everything between
I'm Maya Okafor. I sell houses in Leslieville, the Beaches, Riverdale, the Danforth, East York and out to the Scarborough Bluffs — brick semis, crooked Victorians, bungalows with good bones. One client at a time, and I answer my own phone.

That's my actual SOLD-rider handwriting. Sorry.
From the notebook in my glovebox
Stats tell you what a house costs. These are the things that tell you what a street feels like.
Strollers and greyhounds share the sidewalk. The bakery line is out the door by nine, and every second person I pass has bought or sold with someone I know.
The whole street smells like charcoal and oregano. If your kitchen window faces south, you'll hear the festival before you see it. Most people decide that's a feature.
On still evenings the cliff face goes pink for about four minutes. Buyers from out west don't believe me until they see it from their own driveway.
Eleven years selling east of the Don, all of them on foot, by bike, or on the 506. I don't have a team, an assistant, or a billboard. I have a milk crate on my bike, a desk-for-rent above a Leslieville café, and a phone that rings me directly.
I live in Riverdale, within earshot of the Withrow Park off-leash debate, and I plan to die arguing about whether the Beaches has an 's'.
"She talked us out of a house we loved, because the foundation scared her. Then she found us a better one two streets over."— Ade, East York
